Similar to the Ford Taurus station wagon, the rear liftgate was fitted with a flip-up rear window.Īs with the Bronco II, the first-generation Explorer (design code UN46) shares its chassis underpinnings with the 1983–1992 Ford Ranger. To optimize cargo space, the traditional swing-away spare tire carrier was deleted in favor of an underfloor location. To further attract family buyers, Ford aerodynamically optimized the passenger compartment of the Explorer, adopting flush-mounted glass and wraparound doors a wider body allowed for three-across rear seating. In a significant design change, a five-door body style joined the model line, competing against the Jeep Cherokee and Chevrolet S-10 Blazer (the Explorer and five-door S-10 Blazer were introduced within a month of each other). While again sharing a visual commonality with the Ford Ranger, the Explorer differed significantly from its Bronco II predecessor, becoming a family-oriented vehicle with off-road capability. The first two generations were directly derived from the Ford Ranger, switching to a model-specific chassis for the third and fourth generations. The Explorer has been offered in multiple chassis and powertrain layouts. As with the Ford Ranger, the Explorer derives its name from a trim package previously offered on the Ford F-Series pickup trucks. Within the current Ford SUV range in North America, the Explorer is slotted between the Ford Edge and Ford Expedition. As the first four-door SUV produced by Ford, the Explorer was introduced as a replacement for the two-door Bronco II. The Ford Explorer is a range of SUVs manufactured by Ford Motor Company since the 1991 model year.

Artist in Residence Request for Proposals. The plans approved by the DIA are expected to undergo a full City Council review in early 2023. There will be a huge Story Lab map of the Jacksonville area with art, films and other cultural artifacts.Īnd yes, the 56-year-old alligator snapping turtle named Tonka, who has resided in an aquatic display at the current MOSH, will be moved to the new home, Fafard said. There is also a Mission-Based Maker Space where guests can work on four engineering challenges. Johns, allowing them to add to a live data visualization wall that logs their discoveries, MOSH said. Right now, those anchor exhibits will include an interactive River Lab that invites guests to explore the science behind the St. Each display island will have a permanent gallery, interactive main exhibit and four supporting exhibits. The guests will take pathways that mimic the river’s role in connecting the region, viewing themed collections and “islands” will show off Northeast Florida’s nature, innovation and culture. Visitors will first experience a dramatic two-story “river drop” water feature that showcases the full 27-foot drop the river takes from its Central Florida source to the ocean. The exhibit plan focuses on what officials call "one of Northeast Florida’s most powerful natural assets," namely the St. Local Projects' interior designs were born after a six-month conceptual design process in collaboration with MOSH’s leadership, architects and others. "We expect to hit our fundraising goals, and we will be able to break ground at the very end of 2024, with occupancy in 2026." "Now that we have that behind us and basically the conceptual design is done, the exhibits are done, we are in the process of putting together all the collateral material we need," he said. That is higher than the initial estimate due to inflation and supply chain issues, Fafard said. And it initially listed an $85 million price tag for the new museum when the DIA board supported the land lease a year ago.Īfter multiple meetings with the DIA, the city's chief resiliency officer and recreation and public works staff, now comes early 2023's dedicated fundraising phase to raise the estimated $100 million cost. It named the concept MOSH Genesis, saying the exterior design was inspired by the flow of water that has played such an important role in Jacksonville's history. In May, MOSH released illustrations of the planned Northbank museum, exterior renderings created by DLR Group in partnership with kasper architects + associates and SCAPE. It is just east of the Jacksonville Fire Museum and Pier 1, the future home of the USS Orleck naval ship museum. That site is on TIAA Bank Field's Lot X across from Intuition Aleworks at East Bay Street and A. The Downtown Investment Authority voted unanimously 11 months ago to support the details of a city lease for MOSH on 2.5 acres of the Shipyards along East Bay Street, with a riverwalk and planned park space. A consultant estimated that a new 130,000-square-foot building on the Northbank would increase annual attendance from 175,000 to 469,000, nearly triple the museum's pre-pandemic budget, and create 78 jobs. MOSH had planned to expand its existing 77,000-square-foot building but then opted for a new, larger home after it faced construction challenges. The museum has operated at 1025 Museum Circle on the city's Southbank since 1969 and celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2021. We believe the approach will spark curiosity about nature, culture and innovation for visitors of all ages in a way that honors and reflects the local context." Local Projects Creative Director Eric Mika added: “Crafting the exhibit design plan for MOSH has been an incredibly collaborative and creative process. "While it's been maybe a lengthy process, I think it ended up at a very good point, and we are really excited to look forward and take the next step, which is very exciting for us," Fafard said, adding in an earlier statement that this plan makes "imaginative and deliberate use of every square foot" in the new building’s design. Now a major step has been made toward its proposed 2026 opening, leaving Fafard "very appreciative" of all the efforts to get this far. The primary goal of the MOSH Genesis plan, in association with the New York City-based Local Projects design lab, is to create an experience "unlike anything else in Jacksonville" and be a source of pride, MOSH CEO Bruce Fafard told WJCT News on Wednesday. Johns River that will flow right outside the museum, as well as two stories of other exhibits that detail the area's history, arts and culture. It’s not that it’s not scary: in the superbly staged opening number, a series of at first benign, begloved ladies reveal that they are in fact witches: they transform from sweet to black eyed and sinister with just a flick of Bruno Poet’s excellent lighting and a swish of Stephen Mear’s subtle, evocative choreography.īut to reiterate the point, any scares are largely overridden by how spectacularly fun it is. But Kirkwood and co stamp down on the accelerator and go hell for leather with the yucks. If you let them, the staff at Valentin will fill every second of your stay with games, sports, and entertainment. Regardless of how you aim to spend your time there, the resort offers perks to honeymooners, such as a fruit basket, a dinner for two on the beach and a 10 percent discount on spa services. There are definitely romantic escapes-lounging in the oversized in-room hot tub, looking for shells by crashing waves, strolling the beautifully landscaped grounds in the afternoon, drinking a sunset cocktail on your terrace-but you'll have to be the ones to seek them out. But for those seeking solitude, Valentin Imperial Maya will pose a bit of a challenge. Gregarious couples will enjoy the social atmosphere. And the Valentin wants it that way they encourage mingling by the pool, in the plaza, and at the property's various bars. What you can't escape, however, are your fellow guests. In fact, thanks to the no-reservations policy at the Valentin's restaurants (beepers are distributed if there's a wait), you won't even need to plan dinner. If you've just spent the last six months of your life planning a wedding, you might find the play-by-ear attitude of an all-inclusive honeymoon attractive. Less negotiable is the wine situation: Oenophiles won’t enjoy the house white and red, yet a bottle from the extensive wine list costs extra.ĭrinkers of bottled beer and liquor will fare better, although it is worth noting that often by the end of the night only rail liquors remained (mid-tier brands are the standard top shelf is available for extra). But for those willing to revisit a handful of dishes, again and again, this might not be a problem. The hit-and-miss dining experience is especially frustrating because the Valentin Imperial Maya is all-inclusive guests buy their meals in advance. But the predominantly cream cheese-centered sushi menu at Ginger is an indication of why it's better not to order sushi at a resort in the Carribean.Īt the buffet, you'll do best if you stick with fresh Mexican staples: fresh juices, homemade salsas, stewed cactus, and local squash with onions and tomatoes. If not wowing, the scallops and filet at the French restaurant, L’Alsace, were at least worth the visit. The guacamole and shrimp fajitas at the Mexican restaurant, La Hacienda, hit the spot, but the pad Thai and palak paneer at the "Indonesian" restaurant, Taman Sari, are best avoided. If you go, let common sense be your guide: the local fare is good, while recipes from far-flung countries miss the mark. Unfortunately, the chefs don't achieve quality across the board. To woo guests with variety-and, one assumes, feed 1000 people simultaneously-the property offers seven different dinner spots. The problem with the food at the Valentin Imperial Maya is the scope of its ambition. Ultra-matte lipsticks can be unforgiving and drying. This, or a lip liner as an overall undercoat, will help prevent lipstick feathering into tiny wrinkles. Choose waxier products (not greasy balms) which will help the colour adhere, not smear. Exfoliate if flaky use balms or a lip treatment for dryness. The moral of all this? If a 58-year-old-woman going through chemo can wear red lipstick, so can you. Now that I’m (hopefully) better, I still wear red when I want to feel uplifted. Red made my pale, hollow-eyed face come to life and the simple act of putting on a slash of unapologetic scarlet felt like a defiant f***-you to cancer. My bright lips gave me strength and confidence. I wore red lipstick a lot over the following year – for everything from hospital appointments to going to the ballet. It was a devastating shock, and I put on a brave face by picking up the brightest, reddest lip colour I had to hand ( Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso). My own red journey started in September 2021, when I was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Red lipstick is chic, sexy, dramatic, empowering and the classic choice for sex bombs, supermodels and CEOs alike. I would buy this product again!!5I bought this product because it had a nose hair trimmer attachment. Ultimately, I would buy this again, I'd just need to avoid shaving near my hairline.Yes5Love itDefinitely worth the price. I think it started to give up on me when I would accidentally get my actual hair in the face trimmer when I would trim along the edges of my hairline. The machine itself works perfectly with the other attachments. Even after brushing out the hairs inside using the brush the set provides, it doesn't trim anymore. It stops soon after I turn it on, as if something is stuck inside. But, to be fair, I've used the face trimmer every other day since the day I've bought it, and the trimmer doesn't trim anymore. Sometimes the bikini trimmer attachment would stop as I trimmed my bikini area (that was painful). However, the trimmer didn't last as long, mostly the face trimmer attachment. I was able to shape my eyebrows without worry. It left my skin feeling smooth without feeling sharp on my skin. So unless you are working on half a brain or trying to use it as a vita mixer for your protein shakes, you're going to love it!!Close Shave, Precise, BUT Wears OutI've had the set for about five months and it exceeded expectations, especially the face trimmer.
